3 Nights – Central Kalahari Game Reserve

This 3-night itinerary will take you into the pristine wilderness of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. During your stay, you will visit Deception Valley which is famed for its cheetah and lion sightings, particularly after the summer rains have fallen and antelope such as springbok and oryx congregate there to feed. d in the local history, there is plenty to see in Cape Town itself and Robben Island is a short boat ride across Table Bay.

  • Pristine Wilderness Area
  • Remote
  • Great place to see cheetah

Day 1

You will depart Maun International Airport around midday on a light aircraft transfer to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. On arrival in the Central Kalahari, you will be met and transferred by road to Kalahari Plains Camp.

You will arrive in time to settle in to your room before heading out on an afternoon safari. You will return to the camp shortly after dark. Dinner will be served under the African night sky.

Days 2 & 3

A typical day at Kalahari Plains Camp will see you being woken at first light. After a cup of tea or coffee and a light snack, you will head out on your safari. As this is such a vast wilderness area, the safaris here can take a lot longer than in most areas and you will typically return to camp in the mid-afternoon. You will enjoy a picnic lunch whilst you are out on safari. After returning to camp you will have some time to relax and watch the sun set across the plains from the camp which faces due west.

The safaris often concentrate on the pan systems in Deception Valley. Here you stand a good chance of seeing cheetah and lion. The area is very productive after the summer rains making March, April and May great months to visit.

Day 4

After a morning safari and breakfast, you will be transferred by road to the airstrip for your light aircraft transfer to Maun.
